Overview

Performs assignments in project engineering under guidance and observation of experienced project manager to assist in addressing inquiries related to drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders, while maintaining productive and professional relationships with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of change order logs, request for information (RFI) logs and other document tracking systems.
  • Supports project engineers in facilitating effective communication and timely resolution of project-related inquiries.
  • Assists with end-of-project closeout activities, ensuring all necessary documentation and deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
  • Participates in tracking and facilitating the flow of RFIs, Potential Change Orders (PCOs), and Architectural Supplemental Instructions (ASIs) for periodic operational analysis.
  • Under supervision of project engineer, tracks, reviews, and facilitates the execution of submittals to the General
  • Contractor, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Contributes to research and analysis of process improvement, project flow analysis, specifications and project control.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by senior engineers or the project team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in construction management, engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction coordination or a related role is preferred.

 

OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job. Additional education may substitute for required experience on one-for-one year basis or vice versa.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in construction management (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam).
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address technical inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and proactive.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, codes, and standards.

 

Work Environment

  • Heavy work environment. Continuous indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, and/or emotional hazardous environment. Work requires lifting 50 pounds or more and wearing protective equipment; exposure to extreme weather, noise, hazard; requiring climbing, crawling, lying, and working under pressure.
