Overview

The Service Technician will be responsible for ensuring the functionality, safety, and reliability of electrical systems and equipment through skilled troubleshooting and repair. The ideal candidate possesses a strong aptitude for diagnosing electrical problems and implementing effective solutions, along with a commitment to upholding safety standards and delivering quality service.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify and rectify electrical issues in systems and equipment.
  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and installations on various electrical components and systems, ensuring optimal functionality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians and team members to coordinate tasks and contribute to the efficient completion of service projects.
  • Interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to accurately guide the installation and repair of electrical systems.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry standards while executing tasks, minimizing risks, and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members, providing clear explanations of identified problems and proposed solutions.
  • Engage with existing customers to understand their unique needs and expectations, building and maintaining strong relationships based on trust and reliability.
  • Adapt service approaches to meet the specific requirements of new customers, ensuring personalized and effective solutions.
  • Order necessary materials and equipment, coordinating timely delivery to support project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, documenting details of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Mentor and guide apprentices, sharing expertise and fostering their professional growth and skill development.
  • Embrace the on-call responsibility, being available 24 hours a day during designated periods to promptly respond to urgent service requests.
  • Stay current with industry advancements and emerging technologies, continuously enhancing technical proficiency and knowledge.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified electrical apprenticeship program is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience as a skilled electrician, with a focus on troubleshooting and repair.
  • Profound knowledge of electrical systems, components, and equipment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a collaborative approach to working within a team.
  • Dedication to safety protocols and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Ability to adapt service approaches to cater to the unique needs of both existing and new customers.
  • Willingness to be on-call and available 24 hours a day during designated periods.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to accommodate flexible work hours and overtime as necessary.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, work in confined spaces and at heights, and stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical movements, including bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs and work with heavy electrical equipment and objects such as light fixtures, wire, conduit, junction boxes, motors, and other equipment.
  • Ability to work from various heights using A-Frames, extension ladders, boom lifts, scaffolds, and aerial work platforms.
  • Ability to dig and work in trenches.
  • Good vision (normal or corrected) and ability to identify and separate wires by color.
  • Ability to stand for 90% of the day.
  • Ability to carry material from one location to another or floor to floor.
  • Ability to lift and work with tools above head.
