Payroll Manager



The Payroll Manager plays a vital role in overseeing all aspects of payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payroll processing. This position will drive continuous improvement in our payroll processes while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and company policies. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.



  • Develop systems to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in all payroll processes.
  • Coordinate and assist with timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Oversee and assist in the processing of weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies governing payroll operations.
  • Supervise and coach payroll specialists and assistants, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage payroll tax reporting and compliance for multi-state reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources and accounting teams to address payroll-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to support payroll operations.
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions from employees and stakeholders.
  • Manage payroll for multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state-specific regulations.
  • Oversee and coordinate Certified Payroll/Davis Bacon reporting as required.



  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, human resources, or related field; professional certification (e.g., CPP, CPM) is a plus.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role, demonstrating proficiency in payroll operations.
  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws, including multi-state payroll and tax regulations.
  • Familiarity with payroll software/HRIS (e.g., SAP, ADP, Kronos) and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Analytical mindset and good math skills to handle complex payroll calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to effectively manage payroll operations and team members.
  • Experience or interest in managing compensation processes and analytics for the company is a plus, demonstrating a holistic approach to payroll management and a commitment to optimizing employee compensation strategies.
  • Experience in the construction industry is preferred but not required.
